Cong Minh
was born in a remote village of Tien Giang province in the south of
Vietnam. Minh's childhood was tough! He didn't have many toys like
children do now. He made all of his toys on his own. He loved to play war
game using bamboo gun and also swimming in the river close to his house.
Minh usually went to Saigon in the summer time to visit his Dad. He was
impressed when he saw kids playing musical instrument at the City Cultural
House. Bamboo flute looked familiar to him at that time. That's why he
picked bamboo flute to learn.
A year later, Minh passed the talent exam and was accepted to study at the
Saigon Conservatory in 1983. He was a straight A bamboo flute student
until graduation for nine years. He got a scholarship from Australian
